A splice connection for diagonal hollow structural section steel members features a three-eighths-inch thick splice plate inserted into the slotted ends of the tubular steel members as required, measuring one foot eight inches in length. The connection is secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds applied at four-inch typical intervals along the assembly.
