An interior concrete column rises from a concrete footing, isolated from the surrounding concrete slab on grade by expansion joint filler material. The slab on grade features a designated blockout poured after initial construction, reinforced with two number four bars four feet long on each side where intersecting control joints are absent. Control joints are placed typically in the surrounding slab. Additional references coordinate with architectural plans.
