A flat hollow structural section beam connects to a wide-flange W10 column sized per plan. A seven-inch deep connection plate matches the flange thickness of the supported member. Two one-half-inch thick plates spaced at six inches on center act as stiffeners. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the connection to the column web.
