A temporary slab blockout is formed at the edge of a concrete slab on metal deck to accommodate curtain wall attachments. The embed plate is supplied by the curtain wall manufacturer and anchored within the blockout zone. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars are placed below the blockout with required lap splices, supplemented by number four reinforcing bars at eighteen inches on center minimum placed to avoid the blockout. The contractor provides a notch in the edge form and subsequently fills the blockout with grout having a minimum compressive strength of four thousand PSI. Additional reinforcement follows typical deck edge conditions.
