A W-19-4 galvanized grating with one-and-one-quarter-inch by one-eighth-inch bars rests within a cast-in-place concrete trench framed into a slab on grade. The trench edges are protected by L-shaped steel angles measuring one-and-one-half inches by one-and-one-half inches by three-sixteenths of an inch. Each angle is anchored with two half-inch diameter by three-inch studs placed on four sides. The concrete trench features an eight-inch typical thickness and is reinforced with four number four bars running each way.
