A hollow structural section column connects to a perpendicular beam using complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges, supplemented by a bolted shear tab on the web. At the weak axis configuration, full-depth stiffener plates are provided on each side of the steel column aligned with the beam flanges. The beam web connects with a vertical plate secured by four bolts. All connections are detailed for both strong and weak axis orientations per the structural plan.
