An intersecting hollow structural section member connects to a main hollow structural section column or beam using structural steel angles and a top plate. An L6x4x3/8 by zero-foot-six-inch angle is specified for depths between four and six inches, while an L6x6x3/8 by zero-foot-six-inch angle supports members with depths of six inches or greater. A three-eighths-inch plate ties into the top flange area with a two-inch clearance. All connections are secured with quarter-inch fillet welds along the contact edges as detailed.
