A structural steel brace connects to a column and intersecting beam via a gusset plate welded to a gusset support plate. The gusset plate is fastened to the brace with a bolted connection and welded to stiffeners along three sides with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. A gusset support plate measuring one-half-inch minimum for plates under two inches or three-quarters-inch minimum for plates two inches and greater is welded to the column. The work point is located at the center of the column and one-half of the actual beam depth.
