A davit socket pedestal is welded atop a 7/8-inch thick column cap plate centered on a structural steel column. Framing beams connect to the column web or flanges using shear tab connections. Half-inch by ten-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web, omitted where shear tabs occur.
