A wide-flange steel column intersects with framing steel beams and a structural brace at a grid line working point. A three-quarter-inch thick steel cap plate sits atop the column below framing steel beams connected by bolted shear tabs. A half-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 gusset plate connects to the brace and sits upon a three-quarter-inch by six-inch bearing plate fastened with seven-eighth-inch diameter A325 bolts at five inches on center. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the gusset plate assembly, while quarter-inch fillet welds attach the cap plate and column components. The assembly provides rigid lateral bracing support at the column-beam intersection.
