A concrete slab over metal deck bears across a wide flange beam where the fluted profile deck orientation changes. A deck closure plate is placed at the high flutes of the metal deck. Headed shear studs weld through the metal deck into the top flange of the wide flange beam to provide composite action. Slab reinforcement is positioned within the concrete topping per structural schedule.
