Spatial relationship and clearance limits between underground utility pipes and building foundations. The pipe trench must be located sufficiently away from the footing to prevent undermining, maintaining a two-to-one slope line drawn from the bottom edge of the footing. Pipes passing near the footing require a metal sleeve with an inside diameter at least two inches greater than the outside diameter of the pipe. Concrete fill must match the width of the footing and span the full width of the trench where specified. Trenching below the footing is prohibited after the footing has been poured.
