An HSS12x10 structural steel canopy beam connects to an HSS10x6 structural steel column with a one-half-inch gap. The connection incorporates a three-eighths-inch cap plate welded to the end of the beam with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on three sides. A pair of L4x4x3/4 by zero-foot-four-inch angles are welded to both sides of the column with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. An L5x3-one-half by three-quarters by zero-foot-four-inch long-leg-horizontal angle is bolted to the top flange using one seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolt in standard holes on both sides.
