Three-quarter-inch diameter shear studs are welded to the top flange of a steel beam supporting a metal deck and concrete slab. The detail provides spacing requirements for both single stud rows and double stud rows, maintaining a minimum edge distance of four and one-half inches and a maximum spacing of two feet six inches. For double stud rows, a three-inch transverse spacing is centered on the beam centerline with one and one-half inch minimum clearances to the flange edges. Studs are spaced equally along the beam unless otherwise noted.
