A wide-flange beam frames into another wide-flange beam using a three-quarter-inch thick shear plate welded to the supporting column web with a quarter-inch fillet weld typical. The supported beam is secured with three one-inch diameter A325N bolts through the shear plate. A partial-height stiffener plate, with a thickness matching the shear plate, is provided on the opposing side of the support web. All structural plates conform to ASTM designation A36 unless noted otherwise.
