An open web steel joist bears onto a one-half-inch steel cap plate supported by a structural column. Two three-quarter-inch diameter high-strength erection bolts secure the joist top chords at the column centerline. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld with a three-inch minimum length connects the assembly components. The bottom chord connection references a separate typical detail for alignment and attachment.
