An interior structural steel column base assembly bears upon a reinforced concrete grade beam with grade beam reinforcement and ties continuing through the column footing. The assembly features a two-inch thick Grade 50 base plate containing a minimum of ten one-half inch diameter grout pressure relief holes. Twelve one-and-one-half inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 55 anchor bolts with one-half by four-inch square washers secure the base plate. Leveling is achieved using double nuts or shims beneath a two-inch grout layer. One-inch Grade 50 gusset plates are welded to the column flanges with five-eighths inch fillet welds and to the web with three-eighths inch fillet welds, extending to the centerline of the end bolts.
