The buckling-restrained brace connects to the structural steel column flange at a designated work point below the beam intersection. A cap plate is welded to the column top using complete joint penetration welds across the web and flanges, while typical continuity plates are provided at the beam and brace intersections. A beam stub and continuous beam frame into the column assembly, with additional brace segments occurring per the elevation drawings. Complete joint penetration welds on three sides secure the connection components typically.
