A steel beam connects to a steel column using a three-quarter-inch thick bearing plate secured with three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts and three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web with quarter-inch fillet welds. Additional framing conditions show steel bar joists bearing on wood nailers and plywood sheathing supported by sub-purlins with hangers.
