Double angle web members connect to the top and bottom chords of a structural steel truss at a work point. A web doubler plate is required when the difference between the gusset thickness and chord web thickness is greater than or equal to one quarter inch, with plate thickness equal to that difference. Weld size is determined by the plate thickness minus one eighth inch or the American Institute of Steel Construction minimum, whichever is greater. The condition shown at the bottom chord is similar and opposite at the top chord.
