An open web steel joist connects flush to the web of a structural steel beam using a manufacturer-provided flush connection assembly. A three-eighths-inch stiffener plate is welded to the beam web, with its location and connection coordinated with the joist supplier. The bolt number and size are coordinated directly with the joist manufacturer. Metal roof deck bears across the top chord of the joist and the steel beam flange.
