An angle brace measuring 3x3x1/4 inches is positioned at 10 feet 0 inches on center typically and welded to the steel beam with a 1/4 inch fillet weld. The steel bar joists are spaced per the roof framing plan and bear beneath the plywood sheathing, which is fastened over a 4x nailer using 7/8 inch diameter wood screws at 12 inches on center. Two rows of bolts connect the nailer to the top chord of the framing. Additional 3/16 inch fillet welds secure the upper connections of the angle braces to the supporting structural members. The assembly includes construction notes requiring the angle braces to be welded to the beam only after the roof installation, coordination with sprinkler piping, and positioning within 6 inches of the top chord panel point or installing an auxiliary web.
