Steel beams connect to a wide flange steel column web using welded web plates and stiffener plates. The steel beams frame into both sides of the steel column with typical bolt spacing and edge distances. Horizontal stiffener plates are welded to the column web aligned with the beam flanges, with welds specified typically on three sides. Additional web plates are bolted to connect the beam webs to the central column web connection assembly.
