A structural steel column baseplate connection rests on a concrete foundation. A steel column is welded to a baseplate sized per plan, featuring an optional one-inch diameter grout hole at the center. Fillet weld sizes are determined by baseplate thickness per Table 1, ranging from three-sixteenths to five-sixteenths of an inch on either side of the flange unless noted otherwise. A one-half-inch minimum edge distance is maintained typically around the plate. Notes specify that welding must be kept out of the column 'K' region, and dimension 'T' equals the distance between 'K' regions per AISC standards.
