A wide-flange steel shape features three-quarter-inch Grade 50 steel plates attached to each side extending the full length of the member. A three-eighths-inch fillet weld secures the plates typically as indicated on the drawing. A shear key is positioned along the top flange adjacent to the structural grid line.
