A hollow structural section stair post is anchored to the floor slab using a one-half by six by ten inch base plate secured by four three-quarter inch diameter by four inch embedment expansion anchors. The top of the post receives a three-eighths inch cap plate attached with a one-quarter inch all-around fillet weld. A three-eighths inch stiffener plate is welded at the stringer and post using a one-quarter inch fillet weld on three sides.
