A hollow structural section brace connects to a structural member through a gusset plate inserted into a slotted tube. The end of the tube slot features a drilled hole with a diameter equal to the slot width plus one-quarter inch, created prior to slotting the tube. The maximum slot width is two inches, with slot reinforcement sized per the structural schedule. The gusset plate and structural member are detailed per plan or elevation.
