A structural steel column is welded to a base plate with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld and secured to a concrete foundation by four three-quarter inch diameter anchor rods with a one-foot minimum embedment. Non-shrink grout is placed beneath the base plate, and the contractor must hold the base plate rigidly in place during the grouting process. Anchor rods are tightened snug tight with threads scored to prevent loosening.
