Pipe penetrations pass through a concrete stem wall and below a footing. Pipe sleeves are sized two inches larger than the outside diameter of the pipes, maintaining a typical two-inch clearance. For pipes located three feet or less below the bottom of the footing, provide a sleeve and concrete infill as shown. For pipes located more than three feet below the footing, compact the backfill over the pipe to 90 percent as approved by the soils engineer or use a stepped footing below the pipe.
