This structural demolition detail shows the removal of a portion of an existing concrete shear wall to create a rough opening. An embedded steel column remains within the concrete wall assembly. The existing horizontal reinforcement is cut and coated with an approved epoxy coating, and the existing vertical reinforcement and hoops are maintained adjacent to the opening edge.
