A steel column connects to a reinforced concrete footing via a base plate and anchor rods sized per the structural schedule or braced frame elevations. Nonshrink grout is placed beneath the base plate per the base plate detail, maintaining a specified clearance above the footing. A concrete slab-on-grade surrounds the column with a one-inch maximum isolation joint. The footing has three inches of concrete clear cover to the reinforcement at the bottom and sides.
