An HSS 8x8 hanger connects to a level 3 beam through a 5/8-inch thick by 9-inch wide base plate welded with a 5/16-inch fillet weld. The assembly features three-eighths-inch full height stiffeners aligned with the HSS hanger below and four bolts spaced 1 1/2 inches typical. A full depth shear tab is welded to the web of the supporting beam. Flange extension plates are not required for this connection configuration.
