Two wide-flange beams connect end-to-end with a half-inch gap at the joint centerline. A connection plate joins the beam webs, with bolt count and size determined by the non-moment beam connection schedule. The plate thickness equals the web thickness plus one quarter inch, welded on three sides with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The splice is located at one-quarter span unless noted otherwise.
