This connection details a steel beam framing into another structural steel member using three-eighths-inch knife plates welded on each side of the supported beam. A supporting steel beam receives the knife plate connection and features a beam web stiffener to handle concentrated loads from the framing member. A concrete topping slab over a metal floor deck bears on top of the supporting steel beam. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size secure the connection assemblies.
