A 43 mil ClarkDietrich Max track or approved equal steel stud connects to the underside of a concrete slab on metal deck, maintaining a one-half inch clearance. For the parallel orientation, a 54 mil plate measuring 4 inches by 1 foot 4 inches is fastened at 2 feet on center using 0.157-inch diameter Hilti powder-actuated fasteners with 1 1/4 inch embedment, with two fasteners per plate and two number 10 self-tapping sheet metal screws securing the plate. The perpendicular orientation secures the track directly to the deck flutes using 0.157-inch diameter Hilti powder-actuated fasteners with 1 1/4 inch embedment at a maximum spacing of 24 inches on center. Both configurations use two number 10 self-tapping sheet metal screws on each side of the stud connecting it to the track.
