A circular concrete column measuring two feet in diameter is reinforced with six number nine longitudinal steel bars distributed uniformly within the cage. Transverse reinforcement consists of number five hoops or spiral reinforcement enclosing the vertical bars. A three-inch clear cover is maintained around the perimeter of the reinforcement cage to the outer face of the concrete.
