A bent structural steel beam connects to a continuous beam member at a mitered joint. Half-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the beam web and flange. Complete penetration welds are specified at the beam web and flange. A quarter-inch fillet weld is applied to three sides at the joint interface.
