A continuous wide flange beam rests on a three-quarter-inch by beam-width bearing plate bolted to the top of a hollow structural section column with four three-quarter-inch diameter high-strength bolts sized at beam gauge. Stiffener plates matching the beam web thickness are welded to each side of the column centerline with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the bearing plate to the hollow structural section column. The deck is omitted for clarity.
