A steel beam connects to a structural column via a single plate shear tab welded to the column flange with a 3/16 inch typical fillet weld. A stiffener plate matching the shear tab thickness aligns horizontally with the connection. The assembly maintains a 1-1/2 inch clearance at the top and bottom, with top of steel and bottom of steel elevations sized per plan.
