A continuous shear plate passes through a one-inch cap plate welded to the top of a hollow structural section column. Wide flange beams frame into the column and connect to the continuous shear plate with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The cap plate is secured to the HSS column with four bolts. A note indicates that girders and tie plates are omitted from this view and refers to another detail for the girder tie to shear plate connection.
