A wide-flange W8 column rests on a 1-1/2-inch thick base plate with an intersecting gusset plate welded by complete joint penetration welds. The assembly is anchored to the foundation by eight 1-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 55 weldable anchor bolts equipped with 1-inch by 4-inch square plate washers over 1-7/8-inch diameter holes. Two 1-1/2-inch diameter grout holes are provided in the base plate for dry packing. Dimensions establish bolt spacings at 3-1/2 inches and 8 inches relative to the column centerline axes.
