A steel bracing connection frames into a steel beam supported by a hollow structural section column. A full-depth stiffener plate is welded to the hollow structural section column, with a thickness per the brace manufacturer and a minimum of three-eighths of an inch. A three-eighths-inch shear plate connects the steel joist or beam web using three bolts per side. Metal decking bears across the top of the steel framing members, welded per sheet S5.01. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the brace connection plates.
