A mechanical equipment curb is framed using C6x10.5 channels centered below the curb, oriented with the heel toward the opening unless noted otherwise, and supported by wide flange beams spanning beneath metal deck. A continuous 14-gauge by 8-inch plate with two rows of number 12 screws at 12 inches on center fastens across the metal deck and plate where vertical straps occur, with the deck and plate slotted at these locations. A 14-gauge by 2-inch strap runs through the deck secured with four number 12 screws top and bottom located at each corner. An L8x6x1/2 angle with long leg vertical is centered on the channel and welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld of 8-inch length. Additional connections utilize number 12 screws at 12 inches on center minimum, with quarter-inch fillet welds at the channels and 3/16-inch fillet welds of 2-inch length at the angle to the joist.
