A buckling restrained brace connects to a steel beam supporting a concrete slab over metal deck using a gusset plate with five-sixteenth-inch welds. One-half-inch stiffener plates are provided on the near side and far side of the gusset. The gusset is slotted to receive the brace, and blockout material is placed in hatched regions while concrete directly contacts the gusset and connection region. A half-inch nominal depth work point is established at the beam intersection.
NOTE: PROVIDE BLOCKOUT MATERIAL IN HATCHED REGIONS AS SHOWN, BUT DO NOT PLACE MATERIAL AROUND GUSSET OR CONNECTION REGION.
