A wide-flange girder bears atop a hollow structural section column connected through a 1-inch thick by 14-inch wide by 2 feet 3 inches long cap plate centered with eight 7/8-inch diameter A325-N bolts at the usual gauge. Three-eighths-inch thick full-width stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the girder web using 3/16-inch fillet welds typically. A 3/8-inch plate is welded to the column assembly with a field weld indicator. Intersecting beams are omitted from the view for clarity.
