A square concrete column cross section measures thirty inches by thirty inches with perimeter longitudinal reinforcement and an interior grid of closed ties and crossties. The crossties alternate sides with standard ninety-degree and one-hundred-thirty-five-degree seismic hooks having a minimum extension of six bar diameters or three inches. Longitudinal bars are distributed equally around the perimeter with designated indicators for bars above and below. Reference notes direct the builder to detail six on sheet S500 for column plinth dimensions, tie size and spacing, and longitudinal reinforcing specifications.
