A C5x6.7 ladder vertical rail terminates at a quarter-inch by three-inch by five-and-a-half-inch steel cap plate, secured with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A one-and-a-half-inch outside diameter pipe rail passes through the cap plate and is joined with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. Three-quarter-inch diameter rod rungs extend below the connection, positioned two and three-quarter inches from the edge.
