A structural steel beam features a coped web with a depth dimension equal to the larger of the top or bottom cope. A three-eighths-inch plate connects to the web using three bolts and a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. Clearances of one-quarter inch and one and one-half inches are maintained at the cope and connection interface.
