Steel bar joists frame an opening with double framing or per plan requirements. Typical Simpson hangers or an approved equal support the header and trimmer members around the opening. Openings accommodate sizes up to one foot six inches by one foot six inches and four feet by eight feet. An eight inch diameter maximum hole is permitted through the plywood sheathing. Typical sub-purlins are spaced at twenty-four inches on center.
