A structural steel shelf fabricated from C4x7.25 channels and an L3x3x1/4 angle brace transfers a maximum transformer weight of 135 pounds to a light-gauge steel stud wall. The shelf assembly is secured to the wall framing using four 5/8-inch diameter machine bolts with 1/4-inch connection plates. The transformer rests on blocking supported by the shelf and is enclosed in casing attached with number 10-16 TEK screws and sheet metal screws per stud. Fillet welds of 3/16-inch size connect the structural steel components on three sides typically.
